Looks it. I may have to post something just to get folks arguing again.

Looks it. I may have to post something just to get folks arguing again. Heh I was going to work on the Beast Shaman template for Druids (since it is technically in this scope and therefore appropriate) to see how the angle can be used in multiple uses as a class contributing to the well being of the group. So in the creation of any "new" class as said before, is there a need for a new one? I think having a unique "featured" class might not be a bad idea.

The main problem with writing up classes is, sadly, that we don't know what RPG system we're going to be using at this point. We had been progressing with 3.5 rules, but now there are new options, and the old 'd20' logo is now expired (as of today) . Class CONCEPTS are one thing.. but writing up the rules is a smidge problematic at the moment.

I think I could come up with an ability or two for the Canton of the Frozen God. Only problem, would it be a prestige or base class?

What I have in mind for the Canton is that they sing/chant to manipulate snow, ice, and the interactions of living things with their environment, such as an enemy succumbing to the cold, or Canton protecting himself from the elements, or calling creatures. As a monk type, they would also be able to use ice as weapons. Of course, such things would be completely useless in a non-frozen environment. Maybe there's a way to expand it. I know I'm being too limiting, so whatever ideas people have are welcome to expand it.
A cold breath action would be able to help the Canton function with these things in different environments. And with the idea I had in mind for a Frost Defender or any other cold-based class, the Canton can help their abilities work more effectively.
Also, I know magic isn't a common thing in Icebound, but does that restriction also apply to divine gifts, as would be the case with a Canton?
Chill touch as a permanent en'chant'ment on a weapon serves the purpose well.

More and more I get the sense that the Icebound setting is incredibly limited and that the original compilers are unwilling to let it be expanded by the public. The Icebound setting isn't a public project. Every time I (and several others I've seen) have a decent idea, it gets choked in one way or another by the limits of the setting as designed, and enforced, by the few people that can make it to the chat room planning sessions. No magic. No icegods. Torrid jungles. What next? No swords?

Let me explain my frustration, as well as explain why the updates have been slow going.
Icebound is not just a compilation of everything cold-based. It's a campaign setting, and it needs to be ironed down. There's a pantheon, chronlogy, and geography all now set that's well and big enough to be expanded upon.
The thing is, it doesn't seem like any of that is getting attention. Though there are some interesting ideas in the things described and submitted, it's painfully obvious that you, at no time, made any effort to even look over the gazeteer and see how things would fit in.
Icebound is no more limited than writing material for, say, Dark Sun or Forgotten Realms. There's just an expectation that whatever you put in, particularly something as major as this, fits into the material that's already established.

To note Ascendant it is not a choking effort here. The ideas presented are generally unbefitting to the setting itself. H*ll I have made suggestions that do not fit that moniker. I the main issue here is that Icebound is still in infancy and until something becomes of its direction (more detail, less setting issues) then it is a safe bet that any suggestion is logged here and that eventually the scourings will promote growth then. We are not downrightfish in a barrelling the ideas by any means, it just the basics have been barely established and too many ideas and not enought time to sort throught them all is an issue. To note they made a claim that there is not God of cold (ice, etc.) though some of your suggestions imply divine powers with cold effects and without a cold gods per se these powers would need another source by logical notions. No offense is in tended though I would suggest that capped words should be avoided as it implies yelling even if it is not the case, so if we could avoid them (not you Ascendant) in the future unless you are actually yelling. A while back, someone said that "Icebound" is an inappropriate name for the setting. I've come to agree. It's completely misleading. Yes, I've read the Gezateer. I just haven't read it recently.

By the way, I'm curious why you mentioned the caps lock issue if no one here used caps lock?
